Independent Practitioner Services for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities (IPSIDD)
What is IPSIDD? “IPSIDD” stand for Independent Practitioner Services for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities. It is a NYS program managed by OPWDD for developmentally delayed individuals ages 21-99. The IPSIDD program replaced the existing clinical services provided under the Medicaid State Plan in April of 2016. Restore Therapy provides Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Speech Therapy to qualifying adults in their individual residences, IRAs (Individual Residential Alternative), Supportive Apartment , or their day habilitation program sites.
The Occupational Therapist and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant work through the IPSIDD program with clients on improving home ADL skills such as setting a table, sweeping a floor or cooking a meal. For higher functioning clients, the occupational therapist may work on money skills, budgeting and learning to shop for food. The occupational therapist may address physical limitations such as weakness and general deconditioning, either as an acute incident or on an ongoing basis. Work on sensory processing skills through occupational therapy treatment remains key for many clients as that allows them to successfully interact with their environment.
